Free comic book giveaway on Free Comic Book Day 2010

Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is an annual event held the first Saturday in May. Participating comic book shops across the United States and Canada give away special comic books for free, no strings attached! Some stores even give away more than one comic book. FCBD has been celebrated since 2002. This year, the event will take place on May 1st, 2010.

If you don't read Seventeen Magazine, you may have missed this great free offer. If you go to Seventeen.com and print out their homepage and take that into your local Aeropostale store you can get a free colorful v-neck t-shirt (regular price $17.50). This offer was advertised in the May 2010 issue of Seventeen and it says that it is while supplies last. Instead of the website printout you can also bring a May cover of Seventeen in to trade for a shirt.

The small print says limit one per person ages 13-29.

Free urban birding festival - May 13-16

A fun, free celebration of springtime birds, The upcoming Urban Birding Festival -- May 13-16 – is a fun, free celebration of spring birds and and birding. Everyone, from brand-new to experienced birders, is invited to take part in all or part of this free four-day event. No registration is required. Just show up at the events you wish to attend.

The festival, with St. Paul Audubon a key sponsor, features free daytime and evening bird walks, plus Saturday’s series of events at Fridley’s Springbrook Nature Center, “Birding Central” for the festival. The only event with a fee is Birding Central’s catered lunch on May 15. The festival wraps up on Sunday, May 16, with hikes through the seldom open Arden Hills Army Training Site. All walks during the festival are led by experienced bird watchers, many of them Audubon members.

Some FREE things on Tax Day

STARBUCKS: Get free brewed coffee all day Thursday if you bring your own mug , a promotion the cafe chain says is friendly to the environment as well as taxpayers.

SUBWAY: Subway restaurants want to give taxpayers a reason to look forward to the typically dreaded April 15 by offering everyone who walks into a Subway on tax day a free cookie.

IHOP: Expanding on the tax deduction parents get for kids, the restaurant chain is offering free dinner for one child age 12 or younger with each adult meal purchased 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. all month long.
